This week’s TGIF! question: Comfort Reads: Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity?  Is there a type of book you seek out when you’re needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?

I don’t know that there’s one book specifically, but I definitely have a type of book I go for, and that is Contemporary Romance.

Any books by Kristan Higgins, Jill Shalvis, or Susan Mallery, will always make feel good. They are always funny, and sexy, and sweet.

This week’s Follow Friday question: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don’t like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.

Memoirs. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I normally don’t find them engrossing. But I watched this movie and I immediately wanted to read the book. And that book is…

I’ve now read most of Augusten’s other memoirs, and they are always shocking and entertaining.

I still have to read some Jill Shalvis, but I really enjoyed what I have read of Kristan Higgins and Susan Mallery so far! :D

I haven’t read from this genre before… To be honest, I’ve never even thought about it… That’s probably really bad. :P

But I’ll keep an eye out for memoirs from now on! New follower via FeedBurner emails.(:

I totally agree with you. Books about love, positive books, are the best type of books if you’re searching for comfort.

I have read Running with Scissors, but didn’t enjoy it much myself, although I do like some other memoirs.

I just can’t get into contemporary romance books. If I read “romance” i always go for the historical ones, they are more my type of book. Plus even if the romance irritates me I’ve got the history side of things to keep me hooked!

    Here’s my TGIF post!

I honestly don’t read a lot of contemporary romance, but I’m definitely taking note of these three since I’ve seen you review books from them before! I hope I get the time to check them out this year :)

I must admit that I’m really hesitant to “jump genres” — I like to stay in my comfort zone, which is YA and adult fantasy — but this summer I’ve been a bit more adventurous and stepped outside my comfort zone more than once. It was refreshing, and it showed me what I was missing! :)
