Follow Friday: Stepping Outside Usual Genre

The Book Blogger Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee’s View and Alison Can Read where we all get together, say HI! to old friends, and make new ones. Happy Friday, everyone!!

This week’s question: When you step out of your USUAL genre, what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?

Really, my usual genres are most everything in Young Adult and anything in Romance…and I never really read anything that’s not broken down within those two categories.

Though I guess I do read less Historical in both YA and Romance, so that could count as stepping out of the usual. And I mean straight up Historical Romance..not Historical Paranormal, or Historical Steampunk, or Historical Time Travel…just some good ol’ romance in a different time period. I enjoy it a lot, but I don’t read it as much as contemporary or paranormal. Two examples of ones I’ve loved are:

  1. [email protected] GREAT read

Me, I love my paranormal reads too much to want to read what I consider “normal” books!

    Have a GREAT weekend!

I do enjoy a historical romance. I have been hearing great things about Sarah MacLean, and I purchased Nine Rules, but never finished it. I’m not sure why. I was into it, but I ended up picking something else up half way through, and never went back to it. Julia Quinn is an autoread for me. Have you read any of her historical romances?

    Great question.

I normally read fantasy, science fiction, or paranormal/horror. But sometimes I will read paranormal romance/erotica. The Shadow Quest series by Kiersten Fay is one of my favorites.
