Gone with the Week {1}

Hello, everyone! And welcome to my first ever Gone with the Week!

About the Birth of this Feature

I’ve wanted to have a Sunday re-cap feature for a while now. This feature was inspired by both IMM, hosted by The Story Siren, as well as Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews. But more specifically, Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge, hosted by both Amanda of On a Book Bender and Tara of 25 Hour Books. I’m actually using Amanda’s format for these posts because I feel it’s incredibly organized and easy to follow. Thank you for the inspiration, ladies!

I wanted to combine the two ideas: sharing the books I got that week and sharing things from my life, my blog, and around the bookish community.

I’ve known what I want it to include, but have had a really hard time coming up with a name for it. One night, after Austin Teen Book Fest (Sept. 2012), my friends Sarah and Lena helped me come up with Gone with the Week. Thanks, ladies!!

What’s the Word in Jess’ World

This past week felt like much longer than just seven days. Brought in the New Year with family and friends. Went back to work on Thursday and put in three days worth of work in two…that sucked, but it’s only the start, because this week is going to be even more busy. My throat hurts. :( I pulled about 60 books from my shelves to donate…that felt good. :) And I think that’s about all, but it just felt like A LOT.

This Week On the Blog

1. Gone with the Year: 2012 End of Year Book Survey

2. Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Resolve to Read in 2013

3. Waiting on Wednesday: City of a Thousand Dolls

4. Review: JUST ONE DAY by Gayle Forman – My first review of the year! Also my first read of the year. :)

Awesome idea for a feature. Great books too, I loved Serpent’s Kiss and can’t wait for Winds of Salem coming out in June. Hope you have a happy week of reading.

      Thanks, Katie!

I can’t wait to read Serpent’s Kiss, and I’m actually going to Melissa de la Cruz’s signing soon, so that’s exciting! I also can’t wait for the tv show their making out of these books!

Nice haul. Been hearing good things about The Paladin Prophecy. The rest look interesting. Vortex has an awesome cover. Come visit me too.

I hadn’t heard anything about Paladin until I got it! Glad to hear good things are being said. :)

I don’t care that it’s biased, it means the world to me. :)

  3. Angelica @ Paperback Princess

OMG Jess, this is exactly the type of meme I wanted to host myself but couldn’t think of a funky name. It was exactly as you said, I wanted one with a weekly recap and to showcase my books received for the week…this is perfect :D

Pls attach a Mr Linky so this can be a blog hop too :D

  4. Krystianna

Anna Godberson’s series sounds really good. I’ve heard extremely good things about the Luxe but I haven’t heard much about this series. I hope you enjoy all of your books. ;)

    • Jess @ Gone with the Words

Thank you! I actually haven’t read her Luxe series, but I do own it, so maybe I’ll read it soon!

  5. Kristilyn (Reading in Winter)

Nice feature! I find that Clock Rewinders lets me include ALL THE THINGS, so I like it. :)

Amplified looks super good! I wasn’t the biggest fan of Tempest, but I hope you like Vortex!

Enjoy all your reads — and your week!

    • Jess @ Gone with the Words

Thanks, Kristilyn!! That is the reason CR was such an inspiration for this feature. I love that we can include so much and whatever we want. :D

  6. Amy @ bookgoonie

You have some beauties to add to your shelves. Way to go pulling 60 books to donate. It does feel good, plus think of how excited the kids & adults will be to see the new titles on their shelves will be.
