Hello, it’s me.

About Life

Hello…. it’s me. I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet
to go over
everything…

Ok, ok. Enough Adele. So you may or may not have noticed that I’ve been out of the blogging game for a little while now. Well, I want back in, coach!

I’m not sure where exactly I’ll be taking this blog from here considering I’ve done VERY LITTLE (like, so little it’s embarrassing) reading, but I want to be out here writing again. I just want to write again. I want to put my thoughts and feelings about THINGS out there.

I guess I should start by telling you where I’ve been and what happened and all that. So in the fall of 2016 my relationship of 12 years ended. It was a very traumatic experience with a whole lot of fucked up shit that happened and I can’t even get into it all right now. But it happened, and it essentially broke me.

My world drastically changed and reading or blogging was just not something I could bring myself to do anymore. And I tried, you guys. I’ve tried reading like before but I still can’t do it.

Here’s what I read in 2017:

So sad, right? And two of those (Cat and House of Usher) were for school.

Oh, yeah! So I also started school in my blogging absence. I decided that teaching is what I need to be doing with my life. I’m currently working on my elementary school teaching degree with a bilingual supplement because I want to work with Spanish-speaking kids. School takes up a lot of my time, which is another reason I don’t read so much anymore. But it’s going well so far!

I have started several books and abandoned them midway… not because they were bad but because I lose interest. However, I am currently reading a manuscript of The Girl He Used to Know by Tracey Garvis-Graves and am savoring it. It’s really good so far!! It releases April 2nd, 2019.

What else has been going on?

Oh!! I got to see HAMILTON with my daughter, Abby!! It exceeded our expectations. I’d been imagining it for so long that I started crying when the first song started. lol

We want a revelation!! #tutshouston #hobbycenter

And my daughter REALLY loved it! She’s been a super fan for so long. She even had a Hamilton themed birthday party. hehe

I also went to Colorado for the first time ever this year and got to see REAL SNOW. I went to the Rocky Mountains and wore snow shoes, visited Red Rocks, got to play on a frozen lake, and just had an amazing time there overall. (You can check out all the other pics on my Instagram!)

And next week I’m going to see my bookish friends in New Orleans for the annual ALA conference!! We plan to conference but also sight see and eat and drink and be merry. Will you be there??

So even though 2017 SUCKED for the most part, 2018 hasn’t been all too bad so far. I think that pretty much recaps the major points. I look forward to posting here more, whether it be book related or life related.

Now tell me what’s been up with you!!

YAY! I am so happy you are taking the steps to get back into what you loved. I know 2017 was hard, but you are strong and will continue to push through and be stronger.

You pretty much know my life right now – but! I am starting my new blog soon!! :)

  2. Ginger @ GReads!

Yay! You’re here again! I’ve missed your words in our bookish community & I’m excited to see where you’ll take this.

Life can really, truly suck sometimes. I know how hard the last year and a half has been for you, but I’ve also seen how strong, independent, & beautiful you are!

I’m so impressed with all the things you’re doing and how you’ve handled all the major changes in your life. You’re a rock star, Jess! Also, I can’t wait to hang in NOLA!!!

  5. Jessica @ a GREAT read

    YOU’RE BACK!!!! YAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!

So glad to see you coming back to the blogosphere! I’ve been following your adventures on Instagram and twitter! So exciting to be going into teaching! Congrats on that!!

I am possibly considering ALA next year. I haven’t decided on what book event I want to go to. I’d really like to go to the Booklover’s Con but that’s in NOLA as well, LOL! I know that place is pricey and I always seem to struggle in finding a roommate for these things. Still struggling to find one for my event I’m attending in November! Whelp!

Can’t wait to read more posts from you girlie!

    WHOO HOO YOU ARE BACK!

I am sorry to hear about your traumatic break up, something similar happened to me in 2014, but it ended up clearing the way for some great career advancement, moving to a place that suits me so much better, getting married, and having the most awesome son.

It’s great to see that 2018 is going better for you. YAY HAMILTON AND COLORADO. Here is hoping the rest of this year is great.

HEY YOU! I just wanted to say I’m glad you’re jumping back into blogging again and I love you and you are amazing, strong, and going to rock whatever comes next for you. We had such a good time in NOLA, I miss you already!

I am so glad to see you blogging again! But so very sad to hear all the reasons why you had to step back. It sounds like you are getting things back under control and while there were some negative things that occurred you took the opportunity they made and are fulfilling some major life goals.

Can’t wait to see more of you around the book community! :)
