Tavia Michaels is the sole survivor of the plane crash that killed her parents. When she starts to see strange visions of a boy she’s never spoken with in real life, she begins to suspect that there’s much about her past that she isn’t being told.

Tavia immediately searches for answers, desperate to determine why she feels so drawn to a boy she hardly knows. But when Tavia discovers that the aunt and uncle who took her in after her parents' death may have actually been responsible for the plane crash that killed them--and that she may have been the true intended victim--she flees for the safety of Camden, Maine, where the boy she sees in her visions instructs her to go.

Now, Tavia is on the run with no one to trust. No one, that is, except for her best friend and longtime crush, Benson.

Tavia feels torn between the boy who mysteriously comes to her at night and the boy who has been by her side every step of the way. But what Tavia doesn't know is that the world is literally falling apart and that to save it she will have to unite with the boy in her visions. Only problem? To do so would mean rejecting Benson's love. And that's the one thing Tavia Michaels swore she'd never do.

Overall, Earthbound by Aprilynne Pike was a good book! I must say that the beginning wasn’t as strong for me though. I thought it was a little all over the place. I didn’t understand what was happening or where the book was going. I thought it was about her seeing ghosts at first, then she starts having powers where she makes things appear and disappear (that chapstick scene was a huge WTF is going on moment for me), she starts having STRONG LOVE feelings for the strange guy she’s only seen twice and spoken to once, people are trying to kill her… WHAT THE WHAT?! So I thought the beginning was so confusing to me. Luckily it starts to smooth out ⅔ into it.

Things sort of slow down, even when she’s on the run, enough to have explanations put out there. And what I found was a really interesting story about gods and goddesses with the powers to create and destroy things. It’s not about ghosts at all, but they are immortal in a really cool, different way. I actually loved the concept.

There’s a sort of love triangle. Sort of. The other guy is not really in the picture right now though. It has to do with the immortal thing. If I explain it, I’ll give too much away. Just know that the guy that IS in the picture right now is really cute and witty. And I like their relationship! Though I knew right away he was hiding something BIG because he was really skittish at times. Ugh. WHY?!

So even though the beginning was ROUGH for me, I ended up really enjoying this story overall. I’m looking forward to learning more about this world!
