This thrilling sequel to the much-talked-about Nightshade begins just where it ended.

Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemy, and she's certain her days are numbered. But then the Searchers make her an offer-one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack-and the man-she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive.

Andrea Cremer, I bow down at your amazing story-telling. If you thought Nightshade was full of unique, incredibly interesting characters and original story, Wolfsbane will leave you wondering how it was possible for it to have gotten even better.

Wolfsbane truly felt like a “Part II”. Yes it picks up where Nightshade left off, but it’s also almost like a completely new story. I loved that!! We’re introduced to new characters (who I instantly took a liking to and I know you will, too) and we’re told new, accurate histories about the Guardians, Searchers and Keepers. It turns out some people have been lying for a very long time, and lying very well. Wolfsbane also had a lot more action than Nightshade. More battles, more casualties. It was really sad every time someone died!

In Nightshade, my stance in the battle of the boys was firm: Team Ren, all the way. I think something about Shay always having to be saved by Calla kind of turned me off. Well, lets just say that Wolfsbane Shay has grown into his inner wolf. He is more assertive and manly, deadly even, more sure of himself…and, well, it’s kind of hard not to take notice. I found myself very conflicted, as was Calla. Calla’s conflict in choosing between them stems more from her feelings of guilt for leaving Ren, whom she truly cares about, and her feelings of love towards Shay. I’m still Team Ren though. I’m just so much more sympathetic to Ren’s character and story than Shay’s. Le sigh, I always fall for the tortured boys. One thing I’m almost positive of though, is that Calla will choose Shay in the end. She kind of did already, from the start. I’ve made my peace with it in reading Wolfsbane. They really love each other! It’s so hard to admit that I feel it will turn out that way, but I think it’s inevitable. And can I just mention how much I LOVED that scene toward the end, with Shay and Calla in the garden!? The emotions and feelings between them were so palpable! Loved it. :)

In conclusion, I hated it. HAHA, KIDDING! It was a brilliant follow up to the already amazing Nightshade! I was so engrossed by it. Sure I missed Ren, but he is very present in this book, much to Shay’s dismay. And I’m guessing from the ending that he will be ALL OVER Bloodrose, and I for one cannot wait!

Thanks to Jen from I Read Banned Books for the opportunity to read and review this book as part of her book tours. :)

Great review. I hope I can make peace with her choosing Shay as well. I don’t know if I can. I love Ren. But I always fall for the boys the girls never pick.

NOOOOOOOOOO! My heart was breaking as I read that; heck, I almost cried! That…*sad face* bajwjajsjahajajwjlaksdfk – That’s me. Crying.

Realllly?!?! REALLY?! Tell me you’re lying! I…but Ren! UGH.

AWESOME review, seeing that you made me cry and want to sock my laptop all at once. But….but, REEEEN! I mean, how could you?!?! REEEENNNN!

I 100% agree with what you said about Shay and Ren, I think i have known from nightshade that she would never pick Ren, her feelings towards Ren at e more mutual respect and lust, while with Shay it’s longing and love, but Shay did win me over a little and for the same reasons, I just wonder what happens to poor Ren now, I mean I’ll take him!!

I so envy you Jess! Not for your name obviously, though it’s freakin awesome! But that you got to read this one early! I sooo can’t wait to read Wolfsbane! At the end of Nightshade, I hadn’t really chosen a “team”, but I was more towards Shay, although at the last chapter Ren did make a close running, hence my undecided!

Still, can’t wait to read this towards the end of the month! Will make sure my current read is done in time for me to read this asap, unless I fall victim to preorder sales.

    Great review!

I have to admit, I kinda skimmed your review because I don’t want anything to ruin it for me.  I absolutely love this story…Andrea Cramer has created a story all her own, ya know?  And I’m dying to read more!

Lovely review, Jess!  I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it. I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews, so I was starting to get worried! I can’t wait to read it. :)

Great review, Jess. I am looking forward to this book.  I, like you have come to terms that she will choose Shay. I still want her to choose Ren.. because I feel they have much more chemistry and potential.. but.. alas, I’m not stupid and knew how it would always turn out since the beginning.

Great review. I finally finished mine so I could read it. I feel the same about Shay. He has Ren quality now. If the story is a Edward-Jacob story, I think it is Shay, but I just don’t know. I am holding out for Andrea to weave a different ending for Shay She is definitely going to keep us guessing. Lots of uber HOT moments.

I think Calla will end up with Ren. Shay is great and all, but he makes Calla feel bad about being a guardian, and where she came from, and her feelings for Ren and about herself in general. The scion was saved from *being* sacrificed, but he still has to *make* a sacrifice. Also, Calla will probably always have nightmares about her past, always remember the horrors–things that Shay will never be able to relate to like Ren will. And Shay loves her, but Ren needs her; he’s been in love with her since he was five, for him there is nothing else.
