TGIF is a weekly feature created and hosted by GReads! that re-caps the week’s posts and has different question each week.
This week’s question is: Explicit Material: how do you feel about explicit language &/or sexual content in YA books?
I think that if it’s relevant to the story and the character’s development, then it can stay. The reality is that *actual* young adults and teens deal with both of those things in their everyday lives. Keeping them from reading books that have such material in them won’t change that fact. I am a parent, so I have thought about this quite a bit. My daughter isn’t a big reader right now, but if she ever catches the reading bug, she’s free to raid my YA shelves or those of any library.
Follow My Book Blog Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee’s View where we all get together and say HI!
This week’s question is: What is on your current playlist right now?
I don’t have a set playlist. I just have my music on my phone and hit shuffle, on all songs. I also love Slacker Radio. Their Indie stations are SUPERB!
Book Blogger Hop
Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy for Books where you have an awesome opportunity to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!
This week’s question is: If you find a book you love, do you hunt down other books by the same author?
Heck yes! I did this for Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kelley Armstrong, Sarah Dessen, Maria V. Snyder, Simone Elkeles…to name a few. I have even been known to buy a complete series without even having read the first one because, 1.) I really liked another of their books/series, or 2.) it’s a popular author (see Laurell K. Hamilton and Jim Butcher).
