Top Ten Tuesday: 2015 Releases We Meant To Get To But Didn't

The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan: my most egregious book sin. This book was practically written for my and my super sweet first round OTSPSecretSister Ginger sent it to me so I really have no excuse.

Manners & Mutiny by Gail Carriger: I wanted to read the last book in the Finishing School series the day I got it but then I went into my reading slump and honestly, I’m not ready to say goodbye yet!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: I know I know I know. Egregious sin #2 since I got an arc of this at ALA. This will be remedied shortly and hopefully I will add ships to my fleet.

The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkowski: preordered this beauty and promptly placed it on my shelf (why do I do this?!). With the third book around the corner, I need to catch up!

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh: I’ve heard nothing but the most amazing things about this book and Lisa sent me her arc ages ago. Must read soooon.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir: I was really excited about this and I’ve heard great things about it, but just didn’t get the chance to pick it up last year. A lot of other books came out and I just got distracted and forgot to read this one. It’s still one my TBR and I plan to red it some time soon.

The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski: I loved The Winner’s Curse; I read it in one sitting and was dying for the sequel. The thing is, when I really love a book like I did this one I also get very nervous about the sequels. I don’t want the story to be ruined or I get scared to see where things are headed. That’s why I think I kept pushing this back and just ended up not picking it up at all. I will get to it soon though, probably after the final book comes out so I can just read them all together.

Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray: This is another one of those books that makes me nervous. I loved The Diviners so much and I don’t want this to disappoint. Plus, this book is pretty long and I just didn’t have the time to really sit down and read it like I wanted to.

The Cage by Megan Shepherd: I don’t even know why I didn’t read this. I love Megan Shepherd and the premise sounds awesome.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas: I have no excuse for this one. I love Sarah J. Maas, but I’m so behind on her books. I still haven’t read Heir of Fire and I think I was trying to get caught up on that series before I jump into another one. However, I got a signed copy from my #TBTB Santa, so I will be reading this soon.

MORGAN, I DEMAND YOU READ SIX OF CROWS. I seriously 100% LOVE that book! (I’m still thinking about it, even though I first read it in August – I think – last year.) It’s just brilliant and fun and the characters are so, so easy to fall in love with. I really think you’ll enjoy it! I also feel like you’d enjoy The Winner’s Crime (it’s the book that changed how I felt about the series – I fell head over heels in love) and The Royal We (which is so cute!)

Tamara – DEFINITELY read A Court of Thorns and Roses! My love for Sarah is no secret, I know. But this fairytale-inspired tale is all sorts of imaginative and wonderful and so, so compelling! I also think you’d love The Winner’s Crime (read: what I said to Morgan above) and you MUST read An Ember in the Ashes, which I also really, really, really enjoyed!

I haven’t gotten to any of these either! I’ve heard such magnificent things about The Royal We and it was definitely on the top of my To Buy list yet I still haven’t gotten around to it! I hope you ladies get to read all those books this year. :)

The good news is that you have a loooot of good reads in store for you in 2016. I have flailed at you about the Royal We so many times I’mma focus on some others in this list that I am preeeetty sure you will love.
Six of Crows for one — I think the worldbuilding and the character charisma just scream MOOORGAAAN! It’s tricksy and clever and HEIST FANTASY yaaaassss.

I can’t judge on Manners & Mutiny because I am two books behind in that series and I don’t even have an excuse for myself.

I liked The Winner’s Curse but The Winner’s Crime is what really made me a fan. I think you’ll enjoy a lot about it.

I kinda blacksheeped on TWaTD. It wasn’t bad by any means (solid 3 star) but I didn’t see what made everyone else lose their shit over it. I liked A Thousand Nights better but your mileage may vary :) :)

You’re telling me!! Very good news :D Hmmmmmm that is good to hear, a Morgan book!! Tricksy and clever is awesome. Ahhhh you have to read Waistcoats & Weaponry Jessie! It’s sooooo good. Alexa said the same thing about Crime, that intrigues me! I actually read about 40 pages of Wrath last week and I think I’m going to agree with you. I’ll read the rest soon but so far I’m not super impressed, maybe because I also liked A Thousand Nights so much. We’ll see.

The Royal We! I definitely want to read that one at some point! Same for Gail Carriger’s series! I just commented on a review of the book before Manners today and I definitely want to start that series!

I’m with you on Six of Crows and The Wrath and the Dawn! I hope we love those two!

Ahh, Morgan!!! I know you’ve probably already heard this a million times but yes, absolutely! You need to read Six of Crows asap!! That book had one of my two very favorite new ships of 2015! Much shipping glory is in store for you!

Also, at this point it’s probably a good thing you haven’t read Winner’s Crime yet! The ending is very painful. You are saving yourself a lot of hurt by being able to get to TWK so quickly!

Hahaha yes but it makes me want to read it more! You are all so encouraging :D And I do LOVE ships. Best pitch right there. Oh gosh, I’ve read my share of painful endings so maybe I’ll wait til the 3rd comes out! Good plan.
