Top Ten Tuesday: Author Duos I'd Love To See Write A Book Together

Sarah J. Maas & Susan Dennard

This one’s probably a given and will be seen a lot. Though I’ve not read a book by Susan, I know they’re IRL BFFs and BFFs can come up with epic things together.

Trish Doller & Miranda Kenneally

I know they don’t write similar types of contemporaries, BUT! I think mixing Trish’s honesty and rawness with Miranda’s relatability and romance could really give us something special.

Sarah Dessen & Huntley Fitzpatrick

This would be the perfect Summer contemporary book. Something sweet and romantic, with family relationship dynamics that would really hit home. It sounds like I’m describing their books as they are now, but just imagine it as a SUPER contemporary.

Gayle Forman & David Levithan

I already know David can collab the shit out of a book, so why not do it with another one of my favorite pros? This could be something diverse and beautiful. GIMME.

Emery Lord & Stephanie Perkins

I think Emery could bring the great friendships and Stephanie the romance! I’d love it to pieces.

Leigh Bardugo & Marie Lu

Could you imagine the bad guys these two could dream up together?! Our hearts stand no chance if they ever join forces.

Emery Lord & Morgan Matson

Lord again. haha I think Emery and Morgan could write something girl power-ish together! Wouldn’t that be fun?!

Laini Taylor & Maggie Stiefvater

Duuuuude. Both these authors have created some of my most favorite worlds using the most beautiful prose. The imagination that would be used in the creation of this could-be book would be out of this world.

Marie Rutkoski & Kristin Cashore

OH, the fantasy world and characters these two would create would be a dream!

Jandy Nelson & Gayle Forman

SHAMELESSLY stole this duo suggestion from Jamie (@brokeandbookish) haha, but c’mon! It’s totally genius. Something profound and beautifully worded.

Ooh, I really like the idea of Maggie Stiefvater and Laini Taylor writing something together. (The combination of, like, super beautiful prose and wry humor! I think it would be excellent.) I would read that in a heartbeat, is what I’m saying.

Also I was TRYING to think of someone to put Sarah Dessen with but couldn’t think of anyone. And I haven’t read Huntley Fitzpatrick so now I have a reading suggestion to follow up on. Woo!

I love Emery Lord’s writing, and I think paired with another great contemporary writer (like the ones you’ve picked!) an amazing book could be produced!

Oh. My. Word! Yes, Leigh Bardugo & Marie Lu, just yes! I can’t even…. why didn’t I think of that one! Wonderful list! Happy Reading!

I was considering putting a Gayle Forman/David Levithan team up on my list this week. I’ve also seen Sarah J. Maas & Susan Dennard on a few lists this week. I haven’t read anything by either of them, but they seem a very popular choice so maybe I should check them out? :) I also really like the idea of Emery Lord & Stephanie Perkins. That would be a perfect collaboration and I would be desperate to get my hands on a book by them! :)

Ohhhhh I’m sad I didn’t think of Dessen and Fitzpatrick because that would be such an excellent book. Their styles are very complimentary and AHH NOW I WANT THIS SO BAD.

I paired Bardugo with Marie Lu too! For the bad guy reason. GREAT MINDS JESS, GREAT MINDS.

Emery and Morgan are my dream team for contemp. I want the girl-power and swoons and great friendships and all the Taylor Swift references.

  6. Rachel

I could get behind a Gayle Foreman/Jandy Nelson duo or Gayle Foreman/David Levithan duo – or better yet, a Gayle Foreman/Jandy Nelson/David Levithan trio? Great list!

  7. Alexa S.

Susan and Sarah do co-write The Starkillers Cycle, which is pretty darn fabulous! I think it would be totally epic if we got more stories borne of their partnership though :)
