Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Have Been On My Shelf For The Longest But I’ve Never Read

I have about a billion books on my shelves that I have yet to read, but for the purposes of this post, I will highlight only ten. Here we go…

1. The Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon – Ok, I’ve read the first 5 books, but just haven’t picked it back up! Mind you, I OWN most of the series, in which there are 20 books….I probably should get to this one ASAP. o.0

2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling – Don’t murder me, but I’ve only read the first book in this series…the others await me…endlessly.

3. The Host by Stephenie Meyer – I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet!

4. Sunshine by Robin McKinley – SO many people have said this is one of their favorite vampire books, which is why I bought it…

5. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld – I have the box set…and even picked up the first book once, but wasn’t in the mood for it I guess, because I couldn’t get into it at the time.

6. Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi – I bought this one when it first came out and it’s won some awards since then…maybe I should get on this one.

7. The Luxe by Anna Godbersen – Again, I have the whole series. I bought it when it was on sale and after reading (and loving) Anna’s other series, Bright Young Things.

8. If I Stay by Gale Forman – You’re going to kill me because of this one, aren’t you? *sigh* I don’t know…it just hasn’t happened.

9. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand – I buy a lot of books when they come out because of hype…and then I don’t read them, lol.

10. Divergent by Veronica Roth – You’re going to yell at me…but remember! I have a problem… :-| Be gentle.

Ship Breaker is one of my favorite books EVER. So, so excellent and such an amazing male POV. LOVE IT. I fully support you reading this one as soon as you will!

Also, I just read Divergent like 1.5 weeks ago, so don’t feel too bad! It was great.

You know what, I think I stopped at book 5 in the Dark Hunter series, too.  We could read them together!

And re: Divergent.  I held back a long time with that book, but ended up LOVING IT. My review goes up tomorrow.  Watch for it!  Read it.  Love it.

I totally understand what you mean about The Dark Hunter series. When there’s a LOT of books to read, it can look overwhelming. o_o I think I’m that way with Nalini Singh’s series, though none of her books grace my shelves right now. I’ve also heard good things about Sunshine how if you liked Twilight you’ll like this one. Good luck with dusting off the books to read!

  4. Beth

Uglies could have been on mine. I purchased it not that long ago, but haven’t cracked it open.

    Beth ^_^

  5. Sara

I haven’t read Divergent yet either, and it’s been on my shelf for months. I’ve heard its really good though. I am hoping to get to it before the end of the year.  Good luck with getting those books read.

I have started The Host a times and just can’t into it… I’m not sure why.

I have The Luxe on my wishlist, at this point I don’t know if I’ll ever get to it!!

Please stop by and check out my Teaser / Top Ten Tuesday!!

  7. Jenni Elyse

I enjoyed Sunshine, but not a lot. The story was fun and I loved the characters. My problem with it is that it seems like it should be the middle book in a trilogy, not enough information and not enough closure. When you finally get to it, I hope you enjoy it.

  8. Becca Ritchie

I can see how Uglies would be hard to get into. You definitely have to be in the right mood. I haven’t read Divergent or The Host either, but Delirium is sitting on my shelf. My Top Ten :)

  9. Anne Flegel

I won’t even comment on the Harry Potter  situation – but you have to pick up If I Stay. It is such a fantastic book and a really quick read -one afternoon, or less, and you’re done but absolutely amazed. I promise ;)!

Oh dear… Harry Potter only one book? I have a friend who has done
worse but I surprised every time someone haven’t read them all.

Uglies, I might be a bit old for those books but I LOVE them, absolutely
adore them. Never did decide what boy I liked the most, strange I always pick a
    side.

If I stay you must pick it up. I’m not into music but I adored it. I had
some trouble as i knew nothing of music but oh how I loved it.

I haven’t read the Host either, but you seriously need to read Divergent/Unearthly/If I Stay… at least one of them soon. It would make me very happy

  12. Cynthia A.

I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU HAVEN’T READ IF I STAY OR DIVERGENT YET!!! <- that's me yelling at you. You need to get to those two ASAP!! Before this year it's over, they're amazing!! Two of my favorite books ever!!

  13. Smash Attack

The Host is SO good, Jess! I’d actually like to re-read it. :) And – The DH series! I haven’t read the last 3, but holy wow, Ash’s book is one of the toughest books I’ve ever read, and I feel like a stronger person for getting through it! I love that man. ? I’ve read Uglies, but not the others. I need to re-read it. Maybe we can do a series read-a-thon! If I Stay, Unearthly, The Luxe, Ship Breaker…they’re all on my shelf too. *sigh*

I will refrain from commenting on HP and Divergent. :)

  14. Bookgoonie

You’ve got some fab books on your list. I don’t own most. But you should read all the Harry Potters!! You should read about my favorite cowboy. Who cates about the angel chick. Tucker, I love you. It’s an average book till summer then hold onto your Texas cowgirl hat. Yummy.

I haven’t read Host either. Something about it being Sci-fi. I picture Close Encounters or Alien or something. I’ve heard great things. I just need to drink the kool-aid.

  15. Karen K

I probably should have put Uglies on mine as well. Divergent, though, is so good! I thought it was going to be sort of a Hunger Games knockoff but it wasn’t at all. You really should read it.
