Top Ten Tuesday: Twelve Books On Our Fall To-Be-Read Lists

Hi, guys! Jess here. Yeah… we cheated a little today. But it’s okay! Because the outcome is total awesomeness and it’s the first time all four reviewers of Gone with the Words are doing one of these together! Hopefully it won’t be the last either, so prepare for more possible cheating in the future! Also, none of them cheated as much as I did, haha. See what we chose!

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins – I JUST finished re-reading, or rather, listening to Anna and the French Kiss (oh, Etienne, I missed you) so I’m ready (SO READY!) to read this now. I didn’t feel like I needed to re-read Lola, but you guys tell me if I should. :D

The Raven Cycle series (The Dream Thieves/Blue Lily, Lily Blue) by Maggie Stiefvater – I also JUST finished The Raven Boys and…wow. I loved it, y’all. I started The Dream Thieves (RONAN!), so I’m doing it!

Throne of Glass series (Crown of Midnight/Heir of Fire) by Sarah J. Maas – Yup, I did also finish a re-read of Throne of Glass a few weeks ago and I need more Chaol in my life, like, yesterday. <3

The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin – I’m so crazy about this series! This book kept getting pushed back and I’m just dying to read it. The series is so creepy and mysterious, I’m never sure I know exactly what’s going on. I have so many questions that need answers. I can’t even explain how much I need this book!

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater – I wasn’t crazy about The Raven Boys but I finally got around to reading The Dream Thieves and it blew me away! I’m so excited for this one, but I know everyone is looking forward to it.

Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers – I love these books. Bad ass nun assassins, what’s not to love? I’m excited to see more of Annith’s story, all the girls are so different and bring something new to each book. I can’t wait to see how this series ends.

Unmade by Sarah Rees Brennan (actually comes out tomorrow!) – I love the Lynburn Legacy, it’s gothic and hilarious and sexy and just a really great story. Plus magic! This is the last book so I NEEEEED to know what’s going to happen with all the characters. SRB is a cruel and talented mistress, I hope the suffering is minimal (doubtful).

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater – This is a personal no-brainer. I liked The Raven Boys, loved The Dream Thieves, and need this book like breathing. The three chapter teaser was so good!! Ugh.

Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella – Oh how I love Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood! The Shopaholic series is one of my favorites and I love all of Kinsella’s standalones too. She’s an auto-read for me and I’m SO excited to have another book in the series! I’ve missed Becky and Luke.

Light My Fire (Dragon Kin, #7) by G. A. AikenThis is the next installment in one of my favorite adult dragon shape shifter series. G.A. Aiken (AKA Shelly Laurenston) has a knack for writing really fun-filled, steamy and hilarious stories. This is set to release on November 24, 2014 and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. I heard this one was about Celyn The Charming, who is not just charming, but especially handsome (check out the cover!!).

The World of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, Elio M. García Jr., Linda Antonssen – So while we patiently wait for GRRM to release book 6 in his ASOIAF series, there will be a companion novel released on October 28, 2014 that will include all kinds of history, backstory and extended family trees. Though I’d rather have The Winds of Winter on my TBR list this fall, this one will definitely do. Not only is this a book heavy on history but it will also have tons of illustrations. I am most definitely excited for this!

Talon by Julie Kagawa – I was super stoked to hear that Julie Kagawa was going to release a dragon shape shifter series. Imagine my surprise that the first novel releases this fall!! This book comes out on October 28, 2014 and will be the first in a dragon series. I am bouncing off the walls excited to read this one!!

I feel like I’ve been waiting for the last Mara Dyer book forever. I can’t wait to finally see how it all ends!

    • Morgan @ Gone with the Words

Thank you, you as well! I saw Susannah Kearsley and Syrie James on your list, I have The Winter Sea and The Missing Manuscript of Jane Austen on my eventual TBR! Haven’t read anything else by either author but they sound up my alley :)

Crown of midnight and Heir of fire: be prepared for all the feelings! I don’t think I’ve ever read such strong sequels.
The raven boys was awesome, I loved The dream thieves and I’m so excited for Blue Lily, Lily Blue.
    Mortal heart is perfection.
I can’t wait for Talon! I’ve loved every book from Kagawa so far, so I have high expectations.

    Happy reading :)

I’m all excited about Aiken’s. Been a while since I’ve read one of her under that name. Just love those :)

YAY! Another Aiken/Laurenston fan!! Glad you approve! I am addicted to her Dragon Kin series (and her Pride series too). Such guilty, guilty pleasures lol

      Cheers! Thanks for visiting!

  3. Bonnie @ A Backwards Story

I just loaned my friend ANNA, and listneing to her go on as she read made me so jealous because I can never read it for the first time again! And now ISLA’s first time is gone, too. Enjoy them!! Yeah…I didn’t re-read LOLA either. Not my favorite of the three! She’s barely in it, though! Ahhh, and Maas, so good! Each one is better and better! I’m waiting until all four Raven Cycle books are out to read then. Nutty? Maybe! ANd MORTAL HEART!!! So good!

No problem! It’ll be fun and wacky I’m sure, I love Sophie Kinsella :) I’ve read all of her books and only one didn’t grab me (Wedding Night). I’d say that’s a good track record!

      Starting Unmade today :D Yay!

  4. Amber Elise

Looks like I need to read The Raven Boys sooner rather than later! o.O This series is so popular.

AND OMG UNMADE UNMADE UNMADE UNMADE!!

Yeah I had a dream that I read The Raven Boys so it needs to happen soon! But I’ll wait to they all come out, because patience is over rated! :p

Can’t wait to see what you think about Unmade! I saw that people cried while reading it WHICH TERRIFIES ME.

  5. The Avid Reader

Great choices! I want to make time for a Song of Fire and Ice series re-read sometime this winter. I just ordered the first book of the Lynburn Legacy, can’t wait to try that series. Talon is on my radar in a big way. And I loved Throne of Glass – I’m reading Crown of Midnight right now. I really want to finish it so I can get to Heir of Fire, but I foolishly also started a Harry Potter series re-read so now Crown of Midnight and Prisoner of Azkaban are competing priorities!

    • Morgan @ Gone with the Words

I’d love to do a ASOIAF reread! But I’ve decided I’m waiting to hear a release date for Book 6 first… that way, I have a goal and something to fill my time besides counting down the hours! Haha.

I hope you like Unspoken, it’s surprisingly funny and I love the characters. Perfect fall read :)

Ahhh how to choose between CoM and Prisoner of Azkaban! Impossible. Harry Potter is my favorite thing in the world so either way you’re making good life choices :D Plus the longer you take to get to Heir of Fire, the less wait til book 4!

  6. Danielle @ Love at First Page

Great list, ladies! Maggie Stiefvater is totally on my list too! I haven’t even started The Raven Cycle yet, but I plan to remedy that soon!
Also CAN’T WAIT for Mara Dyer. But I’m terrified! My OTP better end up together….
Mortal Heart is amazing and so is Isla – both are my favorites in their series.
Hope you all enjoy your fall reads!
