Top Ten Tuesday: Books To Read In A Day

I had lots of material for this Top Ten list! I’ve been known to spend a whole day reading, with only getting up for food, drink, or restroom breaks. I don’t expect you guys to do the same, so I went through my Read shelf on Goodreads and tried to find some books that were around 250 pages or less that I loved. I myself can read a book that size in half a day. So here we go!

nicknorah1. Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn, David Levithan (pgs. 192) – I read this on a New Year’s Eve and almost missed the party I was supposed to be going to because I couldn’t put it down. But I finished it and it was awesome. :D

2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (pgs. 213) – This is such a special book that it really is best to read in one sitting and absorb it fully without breaks.

3. Looking For Alaska by John Green (pgs. 221) – This might be an emotional read but I loved it nonetheless.

4. The Lover’s Dictionary by David Levithan (pgs. 224) – This book is short and sweet and completely lovely.theloversdictionary
(My Review)

5. If I Stay (If I Stay #1) by Gayle Forman (pgs. 234) – I do love Where She Went more but that one comes after this one…so read this one on a Saturday and Where She Went on Sunday. :) You won’t regret it.

6. Glass Houses (The Morganville Vampires #1) by Rachel Caine (pgs. 239) – For my Paranormal fans! This is a fun, adventurous, intense series that only gets better with each next installment. And they’re all fairly short!

goingtoofar7. Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols (pgs. 245) – You definitely want to spend a day with officer Johnafter…trust me! :) (My Review)

8. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith (pgs. 256) – This book is so, so great. No matter what you’re looking for in a contemporary story, you’ll find it here.
(My Review)

9. Chopsticks by Jessica Anthony, Rodrigo Corral (Illustrator) (pgs. 272) – I read this very unconventional book in an hour or so. You should totally check it out. (Check back for my review and a giveaway on Thursday!)

10. Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen (pgs. 228) – I loooooove Sarah Dessen and even though This Lullaby is my favorite book by her, followed by The Truth About Forever, this one is really great too. (My Post on Keeping the Moon)

  5. Pocketfulofbooks

The Lover’s Dictionary was such a quick read- I liked it but I wasn’t crazy about it. I think ti was cute though and was addictive because of the easy to read format! Great list- lots of books I want to read!

  6. Ginger @ GReads!

I completely agree with Perks — that book is definitely meant to read in one sitting.  I remember when you spent an afternoon with Officer After :) hehe.  So glad I got you to read that book!!

  7. forloveandbooks

Somehow, I haven’t read many of these!! I really want to read the Morganville Vampire books, everyone seems to love them. And The Lover’s Dictionary is high on my “What to buy next” list!

Stop by and see my Top Ten / Teaser Tuesday!

  8. Magan @ Rather Be Reading

Oh, great list, Jess! I didn’t love The Lover’s Dictionary, but that’s my only disagreement. I just felt kind of sad after I read it. Deflated. Maybe that was just me, though… :-/

  9. elena

Nick & Norah makes me really want to live in New York and go on adventures! I agree with Chopsticks, it’s a very quick read and it’s very lovely. We have the same favourite Sarah Dessen books. :D

  10. Jessica Bucher

Oh man, a whole day of reading?! Sounds like a dream.
This is a good list!  I, too, liked Where She Went more than If I Stay.  Adam was one of my favorite male characters.
And I really want to read Chopsticks so I’ll be watching for that review.

  11. Cynthia A.

I looove anything by David Levithan and could easily read his books in one day. I hadn’t heard of Chopsticks but I’ll be sure to check it out. Great picks Jess! =)

  12. Jennifer

Fantastic list! I have quite a few of these on my TBR pile.
Here’s my Top Ten. Would love for you to stop by.

  14. Kristilyn Robertson

I picked Chopsticks, too … that was such a good book! And  definite quick read. The Lover’s Dictionary is on my TBR list … it looks super good. Great list! :)

  15. Stephanie O'Neil

I really want to read The Lovers Dictionary and The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight.  I loved the screenplay for The Perks of Being a Wallflower and I’m going to read the book this year!

  16. Brie Clementine

I finally read a couple of Sarah Dressen’s books. The Truth About Forever is the one with the catering company and the sculptor hero, right? I really enjoyed that one. Also read the one where the heroine’s dad dies and the one where the hero has a radio show. Loved them too, even though I don’t remember the names, but that’s just me LOL. I read these books because of you so feel proud of your blogger lure!

You have some great choices in your list, I read and loved Going to Far, another book I read because of your rec. And The Statistical Probability was such a pleasant surprise.

I’m adding Nick and Norah’s to my wish list and I’m buying The Perks of Being a Wallflower ASAP. You’re not helping my budget!!!

    Great list!

  17. Jasmine Rose

Nick & Norah’s totally made my list too. I don’t remember exactly how long it took me to read it (I’m a very slow reader) but it was a good quick read :]
Man, If I Stay made a lot of people’s lists. It didn’t look particularly short, but I’ll have to store it away for a day when I’m looking for a quick read.
