Top Ten Tuesday: Books When You Need Something Light & Fun

When I’m in the mood for light and/or fun books to read, my mind automatically goes to Romance novels, mostly Contemporary, but also Historicals. Because of that, I decided to make you guys my Top Ten faves.

1. Star Crossed (Stargazer #1) by Jennifer Echols – This book was totally fun AND seriously funny. Old college class rivals with secret attractions for one another who are now working for competing PR firms, with some seriously troublesome clients who are dating? FUN, RIGHT?!

2. Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins – This book has first loves, big semi-crazy family, and FIREFIGHTERS! Need I say more?

3. Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins – Oh, this book. *sigh* It makes my heart smile just thinking about it. It has such a cute heroine and such a real, vulnerable hero. I love it! Still my favorite of hers.

4. Chasing Perfect (Fool’s Gold #1) by Susan Mallery – “Welcome to Fool’s Gold, CA!” I LOVE this town, y’all! And the cast of characters are certainly charming.

5. Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor #1) by Jill Shalvis – GUYS! If you’re looking for fun and steamy and hilarious, then THIS is the series you want to read! TRUST!

6. Exclusively Yours (Kowalski Family #1) by Shannon Stacey – This is another example of a big, funny, crazy family. The Kowalskis will definitely steal your heart. This story of old high school sweethearts reunited is truly fun.

7. Big Sky Country (Swoon-Worthy Cowboys #1) by Linda Lael Miller – While this one’s not as steamy as my other recs, it has a great slow-building romance, and there’s COWBOYS! :D And sibling rivalries! And old parental scandal in a small town! Good stuff. :)

8. Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean – This is definitely one series you guys could totally start with if you’re looking to jump into some Historical Romance. The heroine is fun and adventurous and the hero is a TOTAL RAKE! haha

9. The Princess and the Peer (The Princess Brides #1) by Tracy Anne Warren – Another great Historical! I loved that this story is a friendship-to-love romance.

10. Cutting Loose (Sisterhood Diaries #1) by Susan Andersen – This is my latest read and I must say, I LOVED IT! This story of three childhood best friends felt like a nice change from the small town setting reads I’ve come across lately.  Each chapter starts with a small diary entry, which is really cool. Also! The hero? And Irish Catholic redhead sailor. Yup. And he’s HOT!! Just look at that cover!

Love friendship-to-love. *swoon* great recommends, because I’ve taken about half of them and LOVED every moment. Thanks for giving us MOAR adult yummies to look for.

I want to read Starcrossed so badly, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I adore books by Susan Mallery, Jill Shalvis, Shannon Stacey, and Susan Anderson! Great list :)

    Here’s my Top Ten!

  3. Daphne

such fantastic recs! of course, Just One of the Guys is my favorite KH book, but I agree with ALL THE OTHERS (that I’ve read). I especially love the first Kowalski’s book, so funny and sweet & HOT. I need to read the 8 & 9, but my favorite in the sisterhood diaries was Playing Dirty…oh, Cade, YUMM!

I absolutely adore Sarah MacLean! She’s a fun historical romance novel writer, and her books never fail to put a smile on my face. I can’t wait to read her latest (which I have but haven’t quite read yet). Also, The Princess and the Peer sounds super good! I definitely need to find a copy of that one.

  5. Ginger @ GReads!

I am happy to say that I have read half of your top 10 favorite romances! Oh yes!!! Now I need to read the others b/c I totally trust your recommendations :) haha

Star Crossed sounds a fun read! I haven’t read any adult fiction in a while :)

  7. Maggie

I love Jennifer Echols but I just couldn’t make it through Star Crossed and I really wanted to! Great list!

  8. Quinn

Oh my gosh, I used to read Susan Andersen’s books all the time. I’ve sort of drifted away from them over the last year or so though, so I should try to catch up. My absolute favorite Andersen, though, is Present Danger. It’s a little dated, but I just love Aunie and James. LOVE THEM! Have you read that one?
