YES! Let me break it down for you…
While this list is in no particular order, the first one definitely holds the number one spot for me.
1. Sarah Dessen – She is the one author I can turn to when I need a comfort read. My holy grail, if you may. I know her stories, I love them, I turn to them. Thank you for that, Sarah!!
2. Trish Doller – This debut author stole my heart with her novel, Something Like Normal. I just know she has nothing but amazingness up her sleeve, and I can’t wait to experience more of it. :)
3. Jennifer Echols – This woman can bring the sexy in her Contemporary novels, so automatically, it’s a yes for her books.
4. Simone Elkeles – I love Simone because, in her Perfect Chemistry series, she gave me heroes of my nationality, Mexican. I don’t get that very often, so thank you, Simone.
5. Gayle Forman – This lady brought me to my knees with Where She Went! SO MANY FEELINGS!!! SO MANY! Yeah, I want more books like that from her.
6. John Green – ‘nough said.
7. David Levithan – Like John Green, what can I say. I love David.
8. Jandy Nelson – If you have yet to read The Sky is Everywhere, you are missing out! It’s incredible. And for that, she makes this list.
9. Jenny Han – Oh, Jenny. I love you so! The Summer series will forever be one of my favorite stories ever.
10. Stephanie Perkins – No one can end a list that starts off with Sarah Dessen like Stephanie Perkins. It’s like a perfect circle! Stephanie has given us the most perfect boys to fall in love with…Etienne..Cricket…yeah. *swoon*
Fara @ Tumbling In Books

I am such a contemporary YA fiend so posts like these are my crack. I JUST read Jandy Nelson’s THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE recently… and I loved it so much I read it again the next day. Seriously. I definitely share some of these faves, but Courtney Summers is my #1.

Great list! I love many of these authors as well. Heather @ Flyleaf keeps trying to get me to read The Sky is Everwhere and I have it from the library so I plan to start it soon.
SaraO@TheLibrarianReads
Just finished What Happened To Goodbye by Sarah Dessen on audiobook last week. Not only was the story a big snuggle comfort read, but the actress reading the book was GREAT! Seriously, she sounded just like the teen character to me…usually they sound so adult, this girl had it down!
Judith (Paper Riot)
John Green!! And David Levithan. And Gayle Forman. Yes, I also had ALL THESE EMOTIONS!
Great list :)
Beth @ Too Fond

Great choices and I would add Tammara Webber to that list. She’s fairly new but her books are amazing and so spot on when it comes to teens.

I love John Green! I just finished The Fault in Our Stars and I loved it! The intellectualism, the writing, everything. I read a bit of Every Day by David Levithan but he seems to be a great writer!
Stephanie Perkins! Etienne! I’m reading Lola and the Boy Next Door and Cricket! *fangirls*
Ruby
I can’t imagine any favorite comtemp YA authors list isn’t going to have Sarah Dessen, Simone Elkeles and Stephanie Perkins. They’re all fantastic–though I’d put Elkeles as my favorite. The Truth About Forever, though? I love that book. It’s an all-time favorite.
