Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2012

I’ve read so many amazing books this year, many of which were from debut authors, but you won’t see them on this list. To me this list is for authors with books published prior to this year whose books are loved by many, and were new to me this year…so here we go!

Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins1. Maya Banks (KGI series) – I like that this series is so action packed, yet so touching at times. I cry pretty much every book, lol. I look forward to reading more from Maya, as she has many beloved series out there. (My KGI reviews)

2. Kristan Higgins – If I’m ever in the mood for a book that will make my heart smile, I’ll pick up a Contemporary Romance novel by Kristan. I read three of her books this year and loved each one. (My Kristan Higgins reviews, here and here)

3. Shannon Stacey (Kowalski Family series) – Another great Contemporary Romance author. Shannon’s books are guaranteed to put a smile on my face. :) (My Kowalski series reviews)

The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson4. Tracey Garvis-Graves – Tracey’s On the Island is one of the two self-pubbed/later-bought-by-Penguin books I read this year. I loooooved it! Such a unique love story. (My On the Island review)

5. Tammara Webber – Tammara is the second self-pubbed/later-bought-by-Penguin author. Like SO MANY people, I loved her book, Easy. (My Easy review)

6. Jandy Nelson – The first book I read this year was Jandy’s The Sky is Everywhere…easily in my Top 5 of this year, and one of the books I talked about a lot, even though I never did review it. It was too hard!!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor7. Miranda Kenneally – Guys! I very recently finally read Miranda’s books and I LOVED THEM SO MUCH! Check out my review of Catching Jordan and Stealing Parker to see why!

8. Jennifer E. SmithThe Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight…THIS BOOK! ALL THE FEELINGS!! I need to read all of her books for this reason.

9. Jessica Shirvington (The Violet Eden Chapters) – It’s rare when a sequel can elevate a series that started out ok for me…Jessica did this very thing. And she’s Australian and is super awesome. (My Embrace and Entice reviews)

10. Laini Taylor (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) – Need I say why? Really? Ok, read these then. :)

Kristan Higgins! Oh, I love her. If I’d made this list in 2009, I absolutely would have included her, because that’s when I discovered her. So much love!

Oh, Jandy Nelson. ♥ That book is so amazing.

Shannon Stacey was on my list, too!

  2. Ginger @ GReads!

I’m happy you introduced me to Shannon Stacey this year! I must read more by her. Also, Stealing Parker is coming up on my reading list very, very soon ;) thanks!

I also fell in love with Maya Banks this year. Except I read her highlander books. Very good! I’ll make sure to check out the KGI series soon.

I can’t wait for Josh’s book! Seeing the series end is sad but I’ll love to know what’s next.

I have The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight h Stealing Parker sitting on my shelf. Must get to them ASAP!!

Great list! I must check out Kristan Higgins soon.

oh, I cannot express how good this list is. Kristan Higgins…you’re so right. always lifts me right up. you have to read Just One of the Guys and tell me what you think (it’s my fave). Shannon Stacey, Jennifer E. Smith…great authors. here’s hoping next year will bring us more great books by these authors and more great new authors :) and thanks for introducing me to Linda Lael Miller.

First off when did the new header start?! LOVE the quotes ;)

Kristin Higgins and Shannon Stacy are two of my favorite contemporary romance authors! They never fail to be great reads. Plus, I’m still kicking myself for not agreeing to read EASY when Penguin offered it up to me. I missed out huge! I just didn’t have time when they offered and it bums me out. I need to get on that one in 2013!

  7. Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook

You know, I still haven’t read Easy by Tammara Webber. I bought the ebook, and then a few weeks ago, bought the physical copy, but still haven’t read it. I have heard nothing but amazing things about it.

  8. Kristilyn (Reading in Winter)

Yes! So many great authors! I just found Laini Taylor in the past month or so and LOVE her writing. And I read On the Island recently and loved it, too! I hope you can find some more awesome authors in the new year!

I read Laini Taylor for the first time this year as well. I loved her Prague details and the way she worked magic into the everyday world. Great list! Here’s Ours
