Tune in Tuesday – Soundtrack Edition: Across The Universe

A weekly feature hosted by GReads! where we showcase some good tunes! :)

What better than a movie that is a soundtrack in itself?

I make no secret of my love for The Beatles, so I welcomed this movie with open arms. I was not judgmental, I just enjoyed it, and I ended up really loving it. The cast did an amazing job on this soundtrack. I wish I could feature the whole. dang. thing!! But, alas, I cannot. :( I’m talking about…

Oh! And I’ve decided to use clips from the movie itself! Because it’s better that way! There’s one exception, and we’ll start with that one..since it’s my favorite Beatles song. :)

Something – This is such a simple, yet incredibly romantic but realistic song! JIM STURGESS does SUCH and amazing job on this soundtrack! And I’m not posting the clip because it shows some boobage for like 5 seconds. :( But if you’re ok with boobage here’s the link: https://youtu.be/5z5Vn5JNsJY If not, here’s the song without the boobage, but it’s the studio version from the soundtrack, which is different from the way it’s done in the movie, but just a little.

I’ve Just Seen a Face – Because it makes me wanna dance. And go bowling with friends. :)

Hey Jude – My second favorite Beatles song, and the one my future son will be named after.

Now a Two-for!! Also, it’s a SPOILERY one! If you haven’t seen the movie, you probably don’t want to watch the ending here on my blog post, lol.

Don’t Let Me Down/All You Need Is Love – Can we give it up for Dana Fuchs and Martin Luther McCoy in Don’t Let Me Down?!? Geezus, they sound amazing!

Yep, I’ve always been a huge huge Beatles fan, especially in my teens and I remember worrying about this film and wondering how it was going to turn out and I never ended up watching it because I sort of forgot. But then about a year ago or so I was surfing on YT and came across the films version of “I Want To Hold Your Hand” which was sung BEAUTIFULLY! I was amazed! And that led me to listening to the other songs as well. I was actually very pleased with it. :) I loved While My Guitar Gently Weeps as well, which is actually my #1 favourite Beatles song. George was my favourite… ;)

I love in Hey Jude when Max is kind of climbing on the fence – the Jude, Jude, Jude-y Jude-y, Juddeeeyy part lol

LOOOOOOOOOVE this movie & this soundtrack!! Great pick, Jess. Though my nephew was not named after the song, a friend of her’s put together a slide show of the pics taken when he was born & “Hey Jude” was the song – of course! ;-) It’s a great name!

  6. Dirtybrit

I am  a big Beatles fan and was very leary of this movie , remaking a bunch of Beatles songs seemed like a disaster to me But then I saw it..and I loved it. It is one of the few movies I actually own

  7. Annesbookgarden

I am a huge Beatles fan too and I thought this movie was great.  Jim Sturgiss was wonderful in it.  Love all the songs you picked!

  8. Logan Turner

Great pick Jess! I’m also a Beatlemaniac, and I thought this was a cool take on their music. Like Liza, I was also a huge fan of the “I Want to Hold Your Hand” rendition in this movie. It was shot in a cool way too with the slow-mo. You’re making me want to go home and watch this movie!

  9. Jasmine Rose

Is it, like, super bad to say The Beatles weren’t really my thing for a long time? I didn’t really care much for them before I met my fiance but then he basically made me like them. And then we watched this movie and I LOVED it. So, needless to say, I don’t dislike The Beatles anymore :P
    Great choice :]
