Banned Books Week Hop

banned books 2012

“Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community –- librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types –- in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.” – ALA Website

This giveaway hope is hosted by I Read Banned Books & I Am A Reader, Not A Writer.

I wanted to focus/spotlight one particular often challenged book this week. This book has appeared on top ten challenged books lists for the years 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. That’s five years on top ten lists!! This book is incredible and I wish everyone would read it. So because of all this, I’ve decided to give away a copy of….

YES! I will give away 2 copies of this book, PLUS! It is open internationally (anywhere The Book Depository ships only).

And another plus, for me at least, is that I’ll be watching the movie this weekend!! CANNOT WAIT!

Check out the movie trailer!

I can’t wait to watch the movie. It comes out in the UK next week and I am so excited. I read it earlier this month and it completely blew me away. Love, love, love it! Would love to win a copy as I checked it out from the library.

Banned books is a subject that has always interested me because I feel like it’s an invasion of privacy for someone to tell me what to read or what not to read.

I’ve been hearing so much about this book (and movie) that I’m dying to read it. I don’t get why it’s being challenged though. I’m sure it’s nothing, as it seems to be with the other on the list that I’ve read (eye roll). :)
