Book Blogger Love-a-Thon: Hello! And Welcome!

Hello, everyone!!

Welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere!

So, this is the part where we get to learn a little bit about each other, so this should be fun. :) I’ve posted some things about me or my life throughout my last two years of blogging, but the fast way to learn the basics is by checking out my About Me page. I also give weekly updates on my Gone with the Week posts.

My interview swap is with Courtney of Chaos Theory. I didn’t know Courtney before I interviewed her, so I had a fun time getting to know her and her blog. Sadly, I don’t have her answers quite yet and her interview of me is not up quite yet. She did mention having computer trouble, so I’m sure that’s the reason. Once I have them, I will post them for you guys.

In the meantime, check out Courtney’s interview of yours truly below! She asked some great questions! :D

1. If you could go back and read a book for the first time again, which book would you chose and why?

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon – This is book is just so magnificent and the beginning of such an epic series.

2. How and why did you get into book blogging?

I got back into reading avidly in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2010 that I discovered Goodreads and the book blogging community. I thought it was amazing how we could all share our thoughts and love or hate for books in our own personal corners of the internet. So, in January of 2011, I started my book blog as a New Year’s resolution and have not looked back since. I love it here. :)

3. What are the best and worst perks of being a book blogger? Why?

The best perk is definitely the book blogging community. I have made so many friendships since I started blogging. I have never had this sense of rightness or belonging before. The worst is the pressure we sometimes put on ourselves to keep up with the big dogs. I started blogging for myself, and sometimes I lose track of that and feel completely overwhelmed. The key is letting go of the gas pedal and slowing down when you get to that point.

4. How did you get started in receiving and reviewing advanced copies of books?

I honestly cannot remember how I first learned about ARCs, but I’m sure it was through another blogger, because before I started I had no idea what ARCs were. I actually started through Netgalley. It’s really the best tool for newbie bloggers. Physical ARCs didn’t come until later on, and that was by sending an email request to publishers, which are still pretty hit and miss for me.

5. What is one non-bookish interesting fact about yourself?

I love to dance to any Latin music. It’s in my blood. Being Mexican-American, any Latin beat will move me.

6. If you could go back and tell your 13 year old self something, what would it be and why?

Easy. Don’t give up reading! I read so much as a kid, but soon books were replaced by other interests. Mainly friends and boys. :/

7. What is the one book you wish you had been the author of?

Any Contemporary Romance novel. Why? Because I want to make someone’s heart happy the way they make my heart happy. That’s a wonderful feeling, I bet.

8. What is one thing that your readers would be shocked/surprised I learn about you?

I think you and my readers would be shocked/surprised to learn that I’m a bit more shy in person than I am online. It takes me a few conversations with someone to feel comfortable enough to be my goofy self.

9. What character from what book do you relate most to and why?

I have yet to read one character where I’ve felt that “Whoa..that’s totally me!” moment. But I always find at least one trait in one character of each book I read that feels like one of my traits. Usually it’s a sarcastic or smart-mouthed trait that really speaks to me, lol.

10. If you could travel into one book to visit one place where in what book would it be and why?

I’d love to travel to the Paris in Anna and the French Kiss. The cafes, the movie theatres, the parks…it all sounded amazing.

I agree with the shy thing, and the community and the ARCs.

This was a great interview and it was lovely to get to know Courtney a little better :D

I think it’s smart that you posted your interview answers here – and it was fun to get to know even MORE about you. I haven’t read the Outlander series yet, but I will!
