Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing.
They didn’t understand that once love — the deliria — blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.
But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.
Music Monday is a feature where I post a video of a song that reminds me of something or someone I’ve read…anything that relates to it in my mind.
What songs remind you of certain books or character?? Create a post and leave the link or just tell me about them in the comments. I’d love to know!!
In Delirium by Lauren Oliver, Lena has never known what it is to be in love. She’s been the quiet one, the one needing to stay under the radar…until she meets Alex. After Alex, it’s like her heart wakes up…
So I’ve had Katy Perry’s Firework in my head alllll week, and when I thought of the words, Delirium came to mind. Only problem..the original version doesn’t do justice to the feeling of this book. So…then I remembered a few weeks ago, a couple of friends of mine posted this cover all over Facebook & Twitter. It’s a stunning acoustic cover by Ren Patrick. (Awesome side-note: Ren’s from Houston, TX!!)
When I hear this version, all I picture is Lena & Alex..together…in love. I see him telling her these things. Oh, oh, oh. :)
