Emblaze (The Violet Eden Chapters #3) by Jessica Shirvington Gone with the Words Review

4 Stars

Friends, I continue to be impressed with this series, both in story and writing. This third installment was really tough at times. Lincoln and Violet are totally down on their situation after what they learned in the last book, so there was a lot of sadness, a lot of despair. They were constantly fighting with themselves, fighting against their feelings. It was not easy and it was not fun at times. In Emblaze, you kind of know what the story is leading to toward the end of the book. It’s clear that there will be another big showdown with Phoenix, but this time the stakes are higher than ever.

I found myself really intrigued by Phoenix’s real motives. Even though I still dislike him, I cannot help wonder what his game plan is, what his real intentions will be in the end. I must say I was surprised by him. I won’t go as far as saying I like him, but I did soften toward him by the end, and I don’t loathe him as much.

Also? I was totally surprised by the ending! Was not expecting it. Maybe I just missed the signs or something. I am really anxious to see where this will lead.

I am now more convinced than ever that this series could make a great tv show. Oh, you hadn’t heard? Yeah, it’s being adapted into television with the CW Network, Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, and CBS Television Studios!!

Now here’s your chance to win a copy and see for yourself!

Once again Violet Eden faces an impossible choice … and the consequences are unimaginable.

Violet has come to terms with the fact that being part angel, part human, means her life will never be as it was.

Now Violet has something Phoenix – the exiled angel who betrayed her – will do anything for, and she has no intention of letting it fall into his hands. The only problem is that he has something she needs too.

Not afraid to raise the stakes, Phoenix seemingly holds all the power, always one step ahead. And when he puts the final pieces of the prophecy together, it doesn’t take him long to realize exactly who he needs in order to open the gates of Hell.

With the help of surprising new allies, ancient prophecies are deciphered, a destination set and, after a shattering confrontation with her father, Violet leaves for the islands of Greece without knowing if she will have a home to return to…

I haven’t read this series yet, but I’ll definitely have to check it out. I’m not sure how I missed the first two books in the series!

I absolutely agree with you! These books keep getting better and better. I really hope more people keep reading past Embrace, because for me that was the weakest of them. But Emblaze was SO SO good. Linc and Vi are killing me though! But I love that I can understand it and it doesn’t feel like gratuitous angst to me.

I’m REALLY looking forward to Endless and I’m thrilled to see a tv show from CW. I think it would work so well! I have high hopes for that one (now that my Delirium dreams aren’t coming along so well).

I really enjoy this series but I love Phoenix far more than the rest of the characters! I really do not like how Linc treated Vi in this book though.

    Thanks for the great review!

No I don’t think you miss any sign or anything,I was totally surprised by the end too!Ok,now that I think about it,there was a little sign but I don’t think anyone is going put two and two together and come out with that outcome until after they read and then they gonna be oh that is how that happen (just think about what the “angel” did to Violet on the way to the volcano) That is what allowed for that ending but nobody will see it coming,I everyone will be shocked by the ending. Can’t wait to find out what happens in ENDLESS
