A Book Blogger is Born | Summer Break Reads

This week’s TGIF! question: A Book Blogger is Born: What made you decide to start your very own book blog?

I started reading a lot – I mean, TONS – after reading Twilight in 2009. I started out on Goodreads, a site I found where I could keep track of all the books I was reading and those I owned, as well, since I started buying them faster than I could read them. I wasn’t really writing reviews at the time, but every now and then, a book would inspire a few words from me and I would include them. After reading and obsessing over The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, one day on her site I came across a link that read Mundie Moms. Now, this wasn’t the first time I had come across such a thing. I mean, I did obsess over Twilight and had found various blogs and fansites, so I was thrilled to find one dedicated to The Mortal Instruments.

Through them I discovered other blogs dedicated to their love of books. And I wanted to join in on the fun! I wanted to make friends with these lovely bookish people. So I started this blog. :) You can read eve more about my journey in my About Me page if you’d like!

This week’s Follow Friday question: Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

Honestly. I want to spend it reading in my newly purchased home. :) That’s right! We just bought a house and I want to spend all my time there. That, and we don’t have money left for a vacation, lol. Wanna see a picture?? Go HERE!

All I wanted to do was see a picture of your new home, but instead, when I hopped over to that post, I saw Tangle of Need and now I’m crying because I need to read it. Now. Damn. XD

First of all, I don’t think I’ve posted on your blog before, but I love it and felt the urge to say congrats on the new house! It looks like it has a super-cool floor plan! My husband also just bought a house and moved in about 6 weeks ago. I hate moving and I really hate unpacking lol. I seriously do not understand how people have time to read while packing and moving! I feel like I’m still catching up with the reading I didn’t get done while moving (and that was almost 2 months ago!). Will you have a special room just for your books in your new home? :)

Ugh, I don’t know why it’s posting for me as me and my husband’s name lol.

    Jessica@a GREAT read

OOoh nice home!! I usually like reading in my own bed as well, which is in my home. I really would like to move out somewhere on my own, but I have no full time job, economy still in the tank, and I would have to have a roommate since living on my own is too expensive.

As long as I had a nice big room for my books to live in with pretty shelves and a comfy chair to read in, I would be content for the summer as well!

I actually think I found goodreads after I started blogging! I was sort of on Amazon for awhile but didn’t like it too much. Wasn’t super friendly like blogging is!

Jess! Mundie Moms was one of the first “book blogs” I found, too!! and probably around the same time. Haha That’s hilarious.  I bet we were scoping the Twilight and Mortal Instrument fan pages at the same time!!!

Twilight totally inspired my reading too. I read before, but that was my first real foray into YA. I’ll always somewhat like those books, just because they brought me into this fantastic world of literature. They’re not perhaps the best, but I owe them that much. If I read them now for the first time, I doubt I would be much impressed. :-p

Yes! So many people gave Twilight a lot of crap, but you cannot deny the fact that it inspired SO MANY people to pick up books again. So glad you started blogging :)

I wonder how many of us started from Twilight. That’s when I first discovered paranormal, YA, series….everything!
I didn’t even realize there was such a thing as book blogs. I started mine to reflect all my interests in life (mostly because I talked Kevin’s ear off about things he could care less about lol) but it has become mainly a book review blog. I’m not sure how I even feel about that but it’s been fun.
