TGIF is a weekly feature created and hosted by GReads! that re-caps the week’s posts and has different question each week.

This week’s question: Writing Negative Reviews: Are you guilty of it?

I’m a fairly new blogger/reviewer so I haven’t had to come across this situation yet. I do believe in freely expressing my feelings about whatever book I’ve read though, whether they were good or bad ones. I do however refuse to trash talk it or the author. I hate seeing that.

Follow Friday

Follow My Book Blog Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee’s View and Alison Can Read where we all get together and say HI!

This week’s question: Inspired by the inane twitter trend of #100factsaboutme, give us five BOOK RELATED silly facts about you.

1. I have to read equal parts YA and Adult books. I just gotta….it’s about balance! LOL
2. If it’s a series, there’s NO WAY I’m going to start it in the middle or end. I…just…can’t.
3. I like to reread books before the new one in the series comes out…but through audiobooks. I only do it for YA, though.
4. Speaking of audiobooks..I’m obsessed with I can’t stop buying them!!
5. My Goodreads “own-to-read” shelf has 168 books. These are books that are physically at my house…unread. It’s true, I’m a bookaholic. I just can’t help myself. Le sigh.

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy for Books.

This week’s question is from Mina at Mina Burrows: If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…which one would it be and why?

Anna and the French Kiss – If there’s any chance I might find an Etienne St. Clair for myself while living in Paris, I’ll take it!!’s PARIS! Stephanie Perkins painted an amazing setting in the City of Love, and I wistfully longed to be there while reading this book. (Disclaimer: I should mention that I have a lovely fiance who loves me and puts up with my drooling over fictional boys. So technically, I’ve already found my Etienne. *smile*)

I know what you mean about the inability to start in the middle of the series! I also post reviews regardless of whether I recommend the book. I always offer constructive criticism and I never slam the book. I've actually had authors (more than a few) thank me for pointing out exactly what was missing because they couldn't figure it out :DHappy Hopping! GraceKrispy@MotherLode blog

Hey there, old follower hopping through. I just wanted to say that I keep hearing about Anna and the French Kiss and I really have to read it. It's been on my wishlist for a little while now, but it's $10.99 for the NookColor and I usually don't like to spend more than $10 on a book! I think I'll cave and do it though lol. Anyway, ttyl! :)-Sandra from

Oh god I too have an audible problem! I keep trying to quit, but they keep sucking me back. I've spent soooo much money there in the last 2 1/2 years….

    Jessica@a GREAT read

For awhile I only read adult books after high school. I felt like I was too old to read YA. And really the YA selection was pretty grim. There wasn't a whole lot of Paranormal YA. Then suddenly there is a whole lot, but I was still uneasy to read YA because I didn't want to read high school drama. It wasn't until my online friends told me to read Vampire Academy that I soon began reading equal parts YA and adult books! Here's my Friday HopsHave a GREAT weekend!Old FollowerJessica@a GREAT read

Nice answer to "Writing bad reviews", Jess. :) That shows an honest opinion without taking it out on the author or his/her creation. Happy hopping and reading this weekend!DJL

Hopping through. Anna and the FK would be a great world to live in!I have written negative reviews. I try to go out of my way to balance the review with positives – conversely, when I write positive reviews, I usually try to balance it out with a criticism. I try to be fair and kind, but I fear that sometimes I get a little too snarky. My Hop

Apologies in advance for my answer this week as it will not immediately resonate with the book blogger population which happens to be 99.5% female. My choice is a book series geared towards guys which won’t enthrall the vast majority of my fellow book bloggers (who are almost entirely female) with the extensive discussion of powerful weapons and sexy milspec gear, beautiful women, eye-popping action sequences (with occasionally obscene violence), and the like. But there IS something in my answer that just about everyone of the female persuasion can benefit from my decidedly “books for guys” post. Hop on over to to find out what it is.Happy Hop Friday!Howard Sherman

I've only had to write one bad review, bad in that I didn't care for the book. However, I NEVER trash talk a book or its author because I always consider the work that goes into writing a novel, and besides, like shoes, there's a book for every reader!Happy Friday!Kristin@ My Bookish Ways

I like to reread books in a series before the new on comes out too. It's killing me because I don't have time to reread the Mortal Instruments before April 5 so I won't be able to start City of Fallen Angels for a while.
