Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Beginnings/Endings In Books

What a great topic this week!! I found that if a book makes me cry or laugh, it becomes memorable. I’m really excited to share these with you guys, so I hope you enjoy them, maybe even agree with me on some of them. :) Also, I was in a DiCaprio mood…

1. Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead – This book has an amazing first few chapters, a great middle, and an even better ending, but it’s on this list because in the beginning, Georgina, our main character, strikes up a flirty conversation with a really cute, shy, smart, witty guy about her favorite author. She pretty much tells him she would do some pretty extreme things for advance copies of his books and then this happens. Best First Meeting EVER!

2. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick – Whatever your opinion on the rest of the book or series is, you can’t really deny the awesomeness of that scene in Biology (was it Biology?), amirite?! “Call me Patch. I mean it. Call me.” teehee Oh, Patch. Your name is funny, but who cares! I will call!

3. Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready – One word: Logan :( This beginning is so heart-wrenching! I cried right off the bat!

4. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare – Are you kidding me with the ending of this book?! IT IS THE BEST EVER. It’s the perfect ending to the series. Like, for realsies.

5. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green – Complete tearjerker!

6. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon – This is the second book in the Outlander series and the reason is on this list it’s because the ending has this quote in it: “I stood still, vision blurring, and in that moment, I heard my heart break. It was a small, clean sound, like the snapping of a flower’s stem.” And then my heart broke too and I wanted the next book ASAP!

7. Delirium by Lauren Oliver – What. The. EFF! This was the most intense ending! Also, really sad!

8. Just One Day by Gayle Forman – ERMAHGERD! That ending!! When she knocks and the door opens and AAAAH! Can I have Just One Year now PLEASE!?

9. We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han – I can’t even with this book. I could not read the last few chapters of this book fast enough! I was on the edge of my seat, hanging on for hope against all hope that she would choose him! :P

10. Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead – The ending of this book had me SOBBING! In the dark, at three in the morning, in my dark living room so as to not startle the fiancé with my crazy, lol.

YES DELIRIUM! I need to make an acknowledgement for it because you totally reminded me of that ending, of when two years ago I looked up from the final page and swore.

    Check out my TTT.

Shadow Kiss is on my list, too. I actually just finished it today! I didn’t cry, but I was definitely on the verge. I can’t even think about the ending of The Fault In Our Stars, but I remember that it was great (as was the whole book). Happy reading!

I think Shadow Kiss cause a similar reaction in me. The Fault in Our Stars left me sobbing – even though I had braced my self against it. I got a little teary.

And how awesome is Succubus Blues? I do enjoy Georgina Kincaid. I didn’t love the later books in the series but the beginning was brilliant!
    Great list!

Sorry, had trouble focusing on the books with all the Leo love. I’ve hearted him since he was Luke Brower in Growing Pains. :-D

Just One Day is on my list too. I just finished Just One Year so I now feel complete. HA.

    Great list!

The ending of Dragonfly in Amber….yes! What an ending. As for The Fault in my Stars, my son had to give me a hug because I was in tears and he was concerned. Oh endings.

Haha. I didn’t realize there were so many weepy Leo faces around. I’ve only read TFIOS (oh my gosh, I was a total mess) and Hush, Hush, which I actually don’t remember much at all.

I was crying at the end of Delirium and Shadow Kiss too. I was like WHAT?? Great endings in that way. And I agree with you, the ending of Clockwork Princess was so good. A lot of people didn’t like it, but I absolutely loved it. Great list!! (And I appreciate the Leo gifs). :)

Every time I get to a list with Just One Day on it, I’m so glad I haven’t read it yet. Everyone has scared me to death today. And also validated my firmness that just not read it until the next one comes out. I’m absolutely petrified of that book!

What I’ve learned from this post: I must read Richelle Mead! Delirium is also very close to the top of my list. I swear I LOVE these TTT lists! My TBR shelf on goodreads is never-ending. : ) AND the Leo GIFs are a definite plus in this post! LOVE ME SOME LEO!

Oh goodness, Delirium made me so sad/mad. And SHADOW KISS, ahhh. I think I’m going to start a re-read of that series this year (better get on that, eh?) so I’ll re-experience it. *sigh*

Oh my god, the Leo GIFs. love, love, love

Anyway, I loved the endings for Delirium and Just One Day. Agh! I’m so excited for Just One Year.

The Seth extract made me laugh – I should definitely read this series! :-) Patch was definitely HOT in Hush, Hush – I felt the exact same way, lol. Diana Gabaldon is on my ‘author I must read… when I have the time for a super long book/series’ list. Sounds like I should get around to her pronto, I can see why that line at the end broke you, I would have been right there with you (she could have been discussing a missed meal, and still…). Awesome picks honey, thanks for sharing!
