Top Ten Tuesday: Sequels I’ve Lost Interest In Reading

YOU GUYS! I have SO many series I need to finish! Like, lots! Many of those I’ve only read the first book but I KNOW I won’t continue them at this point. Some of them may because I didn’t love the first book, others have taken to long, and others I’ve just lost interest in… Here we go!

Hades (Halo #2) by Alexandra Adornetto

Goddess Interrupted (Goddess Test #2) by Aimee Carter

Fever (The Chemical Garden #2) by Lauren DeStefano

The Red Queen (The Cousins’ War #2) by Philippa Gregory

The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium #2) by Stieg Larsson

The Madness Underneath (Shades of London #2) by Maureen Johnson

Enshadowed (Nevermore #2) by Kelly Creagh

Thumped (Bumped #2) by Megan McCafferty

A Million Suns (Across the Universe #2) by Beth Revis

Valiant (Modern Faerie Tales #2) by Holly Black

Are any of these sequels ones you’ve given up on too? Or am I being crazy?

I didn’t even finish The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo! I don’t know if it was the book or the translation, but I really didn’t care for it despite the hype.

I’ve actually never read any of those, surprisingly!

Sidenote, this is my first time on your blog and I LOVE it. The design is so cute and I just love, love, love it. Sorry lots of love. You have a new follower :)

A Million Suns, is A MILLION SUNS better than Across the Universe. The series gets better and better. So unless you were left feeling ‘Meh’ about the first book, I think the sequel is worth picking up.

I have only read the Lauren DeStefano series, which I did enjoy. I’m not interested in reading the Stieg Larsson series. They just don’t appeal for some reason!

Oh, Valient was quite sweet… I think. I did read it seven or eight years ago though, but for a Beauty and the Beast retelling with trolls and drug addicts, it wasn’t too bad.

I finished HALO, THE CHEMICAL GARDEN and ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. The only one that was worth it (to me) was ATU. The other two were let downs. :(

I totally agree with the Millennium series. My sister-in-law bought me the first book for Christmas and I never had the inkling to pick it up.

Also, I can see how you don’t want to read the Shades of London series. I LOVED the first book, but then she took this really weird left turn and now I think she’s struggling to finish the series so it’ll make sense.

I read the second Shade of London book but decided to not read any more. Although I enjoyed it, there was something in it that made me not want to continue. Excellent list.

The only series I’ve read of these are the Chemical Garden series (Wither) and The Goddess Test series. I actually enjoyed both of them, but can completely understand not wanting to continue them. I get kind of put out when I don’t finish series, but I also hate struggling through them when I’m just not feeling it.

The only series I have fully, 100% given up on is the House of Night series. They were kind of silly to begin with, but then they just got ridiculous and I couldn’t handle it any more.

Ooo, I’ve given on so many of these series and so many more. I have a similar category in my TTT this week too. I just suck and finishing series.

The only one I’ve read was the first book in the Chemical Garden series and I hated it, couldn’t make myself finish the series either so it’s not just you :))

I haven’t read any of these except the first Shades of London book, but yes, this happens to me all the time. I usually know by the time I finish book 1 whether I want to continue the series. Of course, if I take too long picking up the next book, it’s possible the excitement will fade.

I haven’t read any of these, and, with the exception of (possibly) reading the Beth Revis and Holly Black books because I own them the rest of them hold no appeal for me. But I say if the first one’s failed to impress it’s time to move on to books you actually want to read. =)

I really liked the last Chemical Garden book! Though I know not everyone did. But since then I’ve formed a lesser opinion of Lauren DeStefano sooooo. I can’t really encourage that one anymore.
I’ve recently gave up on some series too! It kind of sucks to feel like you’ve invested and now are giving them up but I’ve tried some and have just fallen out of love!

I’ve only read like two of these books. I actually just recently finished the Across the Universe trilogy and I thought the second book was the strongest.

The only series I’ve picked up on your list is The Goddess Test. I really enjoyed it. I still need to read the third and final book. I wouldn’t mind revisiting that series.
The big issue I have with series is that, like you said, sometimes the wait is just so long. I try really really hard to stay away from series that aren’t complete! I need to binge on ’em if I want to! :)
